POLICY FOR OUR GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES
As a courtesy, patrons who use a wheelchair are permitted to purchase three additional tickets for their companions. Wheelchair seating is sold on a first-come, first-serve basis at the theatre box office, by calling the Disney on Broadway hotline at 866-870-2717, or by purchasing through Ticketmaster. To purchase online, select the performance of choice and click the wheelchair button in the center of the page, above the map of the St. James Theatre. This dropdown will point out on the map where the wheelchair accessible, semi-ambulatory, deaf/hard of hearing/blind/low vision preferred seats, and companion seats are located in the theatre.
D-Scriptive is a state-of-the-art wireless aid for the visually impaired guest which provides pre-recorded audio description to the individual receivers concurrent with the live performance. Devices are available to guests upon arrival at the theater. Please ask an Usher or House Manager for assistance. If planning for a Group, please contact us at 800-439-9000 to pre-reserve.
Pre-recorded audio description will not be available for FROZEN from February 18 – March 15 as we make updates to the system. To make a request for live audio description during this time, please call 212-827-5400.
I-Caption is a state-of-the-art wireless visual aid that provides verbatim closed captions in real time. POLICY ON GUIDE DOGS AND SERVICE ANIMALS
Although animals are not permitted in the theatre, an exception is made for guide dogs and service animals. Please inform your ticket sales representative if any accommodations are required.
Please be advised that smoke, haze, and strobe lights are used during the performance.
TDF ACCESIBILITY PROGRAMS
For theatregoers who are hard of hearing or deaf, low vision or blind, who cannot climb stairs or who require special seating accommodations or wheelchair locations, the Theater Development Fund obtains special seating according to need.

Audio Description at Select Performances
For theatregoers with moderate to severe vision loss, a specially trained describer explains what’s happening on stage during pauses in dialogue. The describer uses a headset microphone, while individuals using the service listen through a receiver with a single earpiece.
Open Captioning at Select Performances
For patrons with slight to profound hearing loss, an electronic text display to the side of the stage shows what the actors are saying or singing and describes sound effects on stage in real time.
Sign Language Interpreting at Select Performances
For theatregoers who are Deaf and use American Sign Language as their primary means of communication, a team of experienced theatre interpreters stand to the side of the stage and translate what the actors are saying or singing into American Sign Language (ASL).
Access for Young Audiences (AYA)
TAP reaches out to school groups of young theatregoers with mild to severe hearing or vision loss by providing in class workshops and sending them to special sign language interpreted and open-captioned or audio-described performances of Broadway shows.
Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI)
TDF’s Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI) affords people with autism and their families and caretakers an opportunity to experience Broadway shows in a supportive and judgment-free environment. With slight modifications to sound and lighting, downloadable resources and supports, reduced ticket prices, and autism specialist staffing at each autism-friendly performance, TDF has pioneered the way for this under-served population.
